IT & ANTITRUST

Recently (see Oracle/Sun case) the law of IP/IT clashes more and more with so called antitrust law (as an US-citizen would say). This time EC Commission has accepted a commitment from chip maker Rambus to cut royalties worldwide on certain patents for five years to settle antitrust charges. Case - as it concerns abuse of dominant position - is quite different from that of Oracle/Sun (simple merger case), but highlits the fact, that abuse of IP rights can be stopped by administrative means. Such info is of interest of the FLOSS community - maybe one day, a source code disclosure will be imposed. See the press release.
